For example, if you are
reporting on NTFS Share and Folder Permissions, you might want
to know all of the members of any groups included in the report.
You could run a second report, or you could use the link-in
feature. You can include group members in your report by linking
the Members attribute to the Account attribute in the default
report template. You can then link-in a second level of attributes
to the Members attribute, if needed - for example, the Display Name
or Last Logon Time of each group member. Your resulting report no
longer includes just a group name, it includes all members of the
group (first level linking), as well as each member’s display name
and/or last logon time (second level linking).
You can identify an attribute
that has this capability on the Attributes tab of the Report
Properties dialog box by the <...> indicator in the Linked in
column. As well, when you click a report template, any linkable
attribute is identified in the report description in the bottom
pane. Once you link in an attribute, it also appears in the report
description.
